Oklahoma transfer wide receiver Jalil Farooq has committed to Maryland, he announced on Instagram on Friday.
He is ranked as the No. 59 overall transfer player this cycle, according to Rivals.
Farooq spent four seasons in Norman. He began his career with Oklahoma under head coach Lincoln Riley. After Riley left for USC, Farooq stayed with the Sooners and played under head coach Brent Venables.
He has one year of eligibility remaining and will use it to play for head coach Mike Locksley and the Terrapins in 2025.
Farooq played in just two games in 2024 due to a foot injury and redshirted. He played just 34 total snaps, according to Pro Football Focus, and recorded three receptions for 58 yards (19.3 yards per catch).
In 36 career games with the Sooners, Farooq recorded 88 receptions for 1,282 yards (14.6 yards per catch) and seven touchdowns. He's also rushed 33 times for 240 yards (7.3 yards per carry).
Additionally, Farooq returned 31 kickoffs for 697 yards (22.5 yards per return).
Farooq is a Maryland native as he played at Wise High School in Upper Marlboro.
As a prospect, Farooq was a four-star wide receiver in the class of 2021. He ranked as the No. 7 player in the state of Maryland, the No. 21 wideout and the No. 158 overall recruit in the cycle. He had more than 30 scholarship offers during his high school recruitment.

The winter college football transfer portal window is scheduled to open on Dec. 9, 2024 for 20 days. Additionally, players have a 30-day window to transfer when their head coach leaves. There is also a five-day window for players to transfer after their team has finished postseason play. A 10-day transfer window will open on April 16 as well.
