Former Purdue defensive back Dillon Thieneman has found his new home out west, announcing his commitment to Oregon via Instagram on Saturday. The 6-foot, 207-pound sophomore will have two years of eligibility remaining in Eugene.
It’s a major score for Dan Lanning and Co., Thieneman is considered one of the best defensive backs in the country and was a rare bright spot for the Boilermakers, posting 210 career tackles, including seven tackles for loss and six interceptions.
Thieneman announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal three days after Purdue fired head coach Ryan Walters. Purdue went winless in the Big Ten this season.
Thieneman was named freshman All-American and second-team All-Big Ten in 2023. He was also named the FWAA's Defensive Freshman of the Year.
Thieneman will join a secondary that checked in at third in the Big Ten in interceptions this season.
