Trent Bray just secured his quarterback for next season, landing former Duke star Maalik Murphy. He will have two years of eligibility remaining in Corvallis.
He chose the Beavers over Auburn and Kentucky.
Murphy thrived in Durham this season, throwing for 2,933 yards and completing 60 percent of his passes. He threw 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions for the Blue Devils who finished 9-3.
Bray hopes he’ll improve the Beavers aerial attack which underwent a swap out toward the end of the season when Gevani McCoy, who threw for just 1,300 yards and three touchdowns, lost his starting spot to Ben Gulbranson.
The Beavers finished 5-7 and McCoy hopped into the transfer portal.
Out of JSerra High School in California, Murphy, a four-star prospect in the Top 100, signed with Texas and spent two seasons in Austin before going to Duke.
