Penn State coach Mike Rhoades has dipped into the transfer portal pool six times this offseason, but he may have snagged his biggest score on Wednesday in UMKC guard RayQuawndis Mitchell.
Mitchell picked the Nittany Lions over Arkansas, Oklahoma State and BYU and was one of the most dynamic scorers in the Summit League this past season, averaging 17.3 points a game.
Mitchell has one year of eligibility, but should give Penn State a wealth of experience and versatility on the perimeter.
Rhoades will need all of the on-the-job experience he can get with just three players returning from last year's NCAA Tournament team.
Mitchell made Rhoades' seventh portal player in the lineup for next season.
He joins Ace Baldwin, Nick Kern, Qudus Wahab, Leo O’Boyle, Zach Hicks and Puff Johnson
