James Franklin filled an important open slot on the defensive line on Friday, securing a commitment from Texas A&M defensive lineman Enai White. The 6-foot-5, 245 pounder will have two years of eligibility remaining and is considered a three-star prospect in the Rivals Portal rankings.
Nittany Lions defensive end Abdul Carter is expected to head to the NFL, so White’s addition after his visit last weekend was paramount for Penn State’s depth.
White was out of the gates showing his potential in year one with the Aggies, posting eight tackles, including two tackles for loss. He played in 12 games over his two years on the field, but in October suffered a season-ending knee injury that he continues to rehab.
White will have big shoes to fill, joining a group that led the Big Ten in tackles (781) and third in sacks (33).
