Purdue transfer defensive tackle Cole Brevard has found a new program. Brevard committed to Texas on Saturday, following a visit to Austin on Friday.
Brevard ranks as the No. 36 overall transfer portal prospect and the No. 3 defensive lineman, according to Rivals.
He entered the portal as a graduate transfer on Dec. 3. This came a couple of days after Purdue fired head coach Ryan Walters on Dec. 1. The Boilermakers went on to hire Barry Odom on Dec. 8.
Brevard played three seasons in West Lafayette. He joined the Boilermakers in 2022 under then head coach Jeff Brohm, and then played for Walters in 2023 and 2024. He started his college career at Penn State in 2020 and 2021.
Now, Brevard will finish out his college career at Texas under head coach Steve Sarkisian, defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach Pete Kwiatkowski, defensive line coach Kenny Baker and the rest of the staff.
Brevard started 11 games in the interior of the defensive line for Purdue in 2024, and recorded 19 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks on the campaign.
According to Pro Football Focus, Brevard played 392 defensive snaps and received an overall defensive grade of 71.0. He also logged 30 snaps on special teams.
In three seasons with the Boilermakers, Brevard amassed 38 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries.
As a true freshman at Penn State in 2020, Brevard did not see game action. He played in one game in 2021 in a win over Rutgers.
Brevard was a four-star defensive tackle prospect out of Carmel High School in Indiana in the class of 2020. He ranked as the No. 2 recruit in the state of Indiana, the No. 20 defensive tackle and the No. 234 overall prospect in the 2020 cycle.
