DL WALTER NOLEN, Ole Miss

Nolen had his best season yet last year at Texas A&M. Look for him to build on that success this season at Ole Miss and possibly head to the NFL Draft next year.

*****

DL NIC SCOURTON, Texas A&M

The Aggies lost a handful of impact defensive linemen but brought in Scourton to fill the void. As one of the best pass rushers in the Big Ten last season, the former Purdue Boilermaker has an opportunity to make a big mark on the SEC.

*****

DL PRINCELY UMANMIELEN, Ole Miss

Umanmielen arrived at Ole Miss as part of the overhaul of the defensive line. The former Florida Gator amassed 28 tackles, seven sacks and 28 quarterback hurries last season.

*****

DL DAMONIC WILLIAMS, Oklahoma

One of the best defensive linemen in the Big 12 last season, Williams is entering the third season of his college career. Look for the former TCU standout to make a massive impact for the Sooners this season.

*****

LB TREY MOORE, Texas

Texas didn’t need to look far when looking for a pass rusher. Moore was the AAC Defensive Player of the Year last year at UTSA and the Longhorns hope he can bring the same level of productivity to Austin this season.

*****

LB ELIJAH HERRING, Memphis

All Herring did at Tennessee last season was lead the Vols in tackles. Now he’s at Memphis and looking to fill up the stat sheet yet again.

*****

LB JAISHAWN BARHAM, Michigan

Barham was an emerging star at Maryland and was named a 2022 Freshman All-American. Now he’s at Michigan where he’s expected to be an important piece of an excellent defensive unit.

*****

DB CALEB DOWNS, Ohio State

Downs is one of the best players in the nation, regardless of position. The Alabama transfer is looking to get his national title this season at Ohio State.

*****

DB JABBAR MUHAMMAD, Oregon

Muhammad made the relatively short trip from Washington to Oregon for this season. A first-team All-Pac-12 selection last season, the Ducks expect Muhammad to be a lockdown defender for them as they begin Big Ten play this year.

*****

DB DOMANI JACKSON, Alabama

Jackson was one of the more talented high school defensive back prospects in recent years but his career didn’t take off as many expected it would at USC last season. Now at Alabama, Jackson is going to be a key player on the Crimson Tide defense.

*****

DB KEON SABB, Alabama

Nobody can replace Caleb Downs but Sabb was awfully good while splitting time at Michigan last season. Alabama is counting on him to fill the safety role this season and he’s lived up to the hype so far.
