Ole Miss just stole one of the most talented players in the transfer portal from South Carolina, luring former Grambling State linebacker Andrew Jones away after he committed to the Gamecocks earlier this week.
Jones visited the Rebels on Friday before flipping his commitment. The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Lane Kiffin went the extra mile for good reason; Jones was an absolute monster this season, recording 122 total tackles, including 20 tackles for loss, three sacks and a forced fumble for the Tigers.
That earned him SWAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year and a SWAC All-American honors.
The Rebels (9-3) were one of the best defensive teams in the SEC this season, allowing just 313 yards of total offense. Jones’ production and experience will be paramount to elevating Kiffin’s defense next season.
