Texas strengthened itself through the transfer portal while weakening its main rival. The Longhorns received a major boost to their defensive front Thursday, flipping former Louisville defensive lineman Jermayne Lole from Oklahoma. Lole previously committed to the Sooners last month after spending the past two years at Louisville.

Lole started nine games over 12 appearances last season, recording 19 stops, including five for a loss and 1.5 sacks. He also had two pass breakups, a quarterback hurry and a forced fumble. Lole is capable of lining up as a defensive tackle or a defensive end. The 6-foot-3, 310-pound defender earned a 70.8 grade against the run as well as a 63.3 pass–blocking mark from Pro Football Focus last season.

Lole, a Long Beach, California native, originally signed with Arizona State as a three-star recruit in the 2018 class. He spent four years with the Sun Devils before transferring to Lousiville in 2022. However, he suffered a season-ending elbow injury in the opener against Syracuse that year.

Lole was granted a medical redshirt in January and will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Longhorns.
