Texas has won out for Minnesota defensive line transfer Trill Carter. Carter announced his pledge to the Longhorns on Monday.

Carter was a two-year starter for the Gophers in the middle of the trenches after redshirting his initial season on campus and carving out a role during his freshman campaign. He totaled 55 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and four sacks during his career in the Big Ten.

Arkansas and Ohio State were two other contenders to land Carter out of the portal. The Buckeyes hosted Carter on campus for a visit this past weekend in hopes of keeping him in the conference.

However, the official visit to Texas earlier in the month led to the Longhorns sealing the deal and adding a potential impact player for head coach Steve Sarkisian and defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski.

Carter earned all-conference honorable mention honors after making 19 tackles and 1.5 sacks in the fall. He joins a front that features established veterans T’Vondre Sweat, Byron Murphy, and Alfred Collins in Austin.
