The transfer portal never stops grinding. On Tuesday afternoon, Alabama running back Keilan Robinson surprised many by entering the portal after opting out of the 2020 season.
Recruiting: After taking a visit to Alabama in early June, Robinson committed to the Tide at the end of the month. He was considered solid until Mike Locksley left Alabama to take the head coaching job at Maryland. Robinson then took late official visits to check out the Terps, plus a second visit to USC, but stuck with the Tide on National Signing Day.
At Alabama: As a true freshman, Robinson rushed for 254 yards and two touchdowns on 39 carries. He was the third-leading rusher on the team. Robinson then opted out of the 2020 season.
Potential landing spots: After showcasing his potential in 2019, a number of schools have expressed early interest. Some of these include Louisville, Purdue, UCF and Nebraska. Maryland is another one to keep an eye on due to his relationship with Coach Locksley and the proximity of the school to his home.
Farrell’s Take: Robinson will continue to get plenty of attention out of the portal despite missing last season and is an all purpose back who can work out of the backfield but is also sneaky strong as a runner. The Terps might seem to be a logical fit but their level of interest is less clear than the others. As an impact player, he could work his way to starter with some adjustment.

IMPACT METER
The Transfer Portal continues to change the way college football programs recruit and manage their rosters so we here at Rivals.com continue to evolve our coverage. Each time a player of note enters the portal, we will examine their potential impact on the college football landscape and assign an impact rating, both when they enter the portal and when they choose a destination. The scale is from 1-10 and the description below explains the scoring scale.
1.1-4.0 — Not a big impact expected, likely a non-starter and down the bench depth player.
4.1- 6.0 — A solid impact can be expected in the right scenario and has the potential to battle for a starting job.
6.1-9.0. — A high impact player who won’t change a program but will certainly be a very good contributor and starter.
9.1- 9.9 — A very high impact player who should start the moment he steps on the field and will change the outlook of a program immediately.
10 — A franchise transfer who has a chance to be an All American and one of the elite players in college football.
