Transfer Tracker: Back home for Ewers?

The transfer portal never stops grinding. After rumors rumbled for a couple of weeks, on Friday Ohio State freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers made it official by entering the portal. Immediately, several schools in his home state of Texas became likely destinations
Recruiting: Ewers initially committed to Texas during the summer leading up to his sophomore season. However, he re-opened his process two months later and committed to Ohio State soon after. A Class of 2023 recruit at this point, Ewers made national news by reclassifying as a 2022, skipping his senior year of high school football and enrolling at Ohio State in August.
At Ohio State: After arriving halfway through pre-season camp in August, Ewers only took two snap during his true freshman season with the Buckeyes.
Potential landing spots: It is hard to imagine Ewers not finding a new home in the Lone Star State, with Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech being the immediate favorites. While these are the three favorites, the Longhorns are considered the team-to-beat at this point.
Farrell’s Take: Ewers has one of the best arms I've seen in years and probably the best out of high school since Matthew Stafford so his physical ability is not an issue as he also has size and accuracy. It's a tad alarming that he's already leaving Ohio State but this appears to be a homesick issue and nothing more. Wherever he lands he should be an immediate candidate to start.
