LSU defensive lineman Soni Fonua entered the portal, he announced on Thursday.
The decision caught some LSU fans by surprise as Fonua had worked his way into the Tigers rotation on the defensive line last season.
Fonua was entering his fourth season with the Tigers after starting his collegiate career at JuCo Mesa Community College where he was a standout lineman.
The 6-foot-3, 280-pound Fonua leaves LSU with 20-games played, five starts and 32 tackles. Most of those stats came last season when Fonua recorded 27 tackles – 16 solo – 6.5 TFL and 0.5 sacks.
