Transfer Tracker: RB Lyn-J Dixon commits to Tennessee

Tennessee had already started fall camp, but the Volunteer offense added a new weapon Wednesday. Running back Lyn-J Dixon, who started his college career before transferring to West Virginia, has found a third home in Knoxville. Dixon announced the commitment on his Instagram account.

Dixon, a four-star recruit in the class of 2018, spent each of his first four college seasons at Clemson. He saw the best production of his career as a sophomore in 2019, carrying the ball 104 times for 635 yards and six touchdowns. Last season, he fell out of the Tigers' regular running back rotation, carrying the ball just 10 times across the team's first three games and then entering the transfer portal. Overall in his Clemson career, Dixon turned 218 carries into 1,420 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Dixon committed to West Virginia in November. However, in June, he re-entered the portal. Dixon should have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Dixon joins a Tennessee running backs room that could use some proven depth. The Vols return junior Jabari Small, who led the team with 796 rushing yards and nine scores a year ago, as well as sophomore Jaylen Wright, who flashed his ability last season. But Ti'Yon Evans transferred to Louisville, and Josh Heupel recently announced that Len'Neth Whitehead will miss the entire 2022 season after undergoing offseason surgery.
