The transfer portal never stops grinding. Serious rumors began swirling early last week that LSU quarterback Myles Brennan was going to enter the portal. As quickly as this rumor appeared, a couple of possible landing spots also emerged.

Recruiting: Brennan committed to LSU during the spring after his junior season, but then re-opened his process during his senior season. However, after talking with new offensive coordinator Matt Canada, he re-committed to the Tigers approximately two weeks later. Kentucky, Wisconsin, Oklahoma State, West Virginia and Cal were a few of the schools that were initially involved with Brennan.

At LSU: Brennan saw action in 20 games over his five years with the Tigers. He sat behind Joe Burrow in 2018 and 2019 and then suffered a season-ending abdominal tear three games into the season in 2020. As a starter in those three games he averaged 370 yards and threw for 11 touchdowns. Expected to compete for the starting job this fall with Max Johnson, he suffered an arm injury that has kept him inactive through the first half of this season.

Potential landing spots: Two immediate landing spots that have emerged are South Carolina and Ole Miss, which would bring him back to his home state. Aside from these two, keep an eye on Nebraska, Kansas, Toledo, Pittsburgh, Marshall, North Texas and Arizona.

Farrell’s Take: Brennan has always had Power Five talent and he has shown that when he's been healthy but staying on the field has been an issue. He's not an immediate starter for someone but he will push for a starting job and add depth to any quarterback room as well as experience.

IMPACT METER

The Transfer Portal continues to change the way college football programs recruit and manage their rosters so we here at Rivals.com continue to evolve our coverage. Each time a player of note enters the portal, we will examine their potential impact on the college football landscape and assign an impact rating, both when they enter the portal and when they choose a destination. The scale is from 1-10 and the description below explains the scoring scale.

1.1-4.0 — Not a big impact expected, likely a non-starter and down the bench depth player.

4.1- 6.0 — A solid impact can be expected in the right scenario and has the potential to battle for a starting job.

6.1-9.0. — A high impact player who won’t change a program but will certainly be a very good contributor and starter.

9.1- 9.9 — A very high impact player who should start the moment he steps on the field and will change the outlook of a program immediately.

10 — A franchise transfer who has a chance to be an All American and one of the elite players in college football.
