UNC linebacker Amare Campbell set to enter portal

North Carolina sophomore outside linebacker Amare Campbell plans to enter the transfer portal.

The 6-foot, 230-pounder had 72 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and two passes defended.

Campbell had a season-high nine tackles and 1.5 sacks against NC State on Nov. 30, in what turned out to be his last game in a Tar Heel uniform.

Campbell had 14 tackles and a sack his freshman year.

The Manassas (Va.) Unity Reed High product was a Rivals.com three-star prospect in the class of 2023. He was ranked No. 34 overall in Virginia.

Campbell picked UNC over offers from West Virginia, Connecticut, Liberty, Marshall, Maryland, Virginia and William & Mary.

The winter college football transfer portal window is scheduled to open on December 9th, 2024 for 20 days. Additionally, players have a 30-day window to transfer when their head coach leaves. There is also a five-day window for players to transfer after their team has finished postseason play. A 10-day transfer window will open on April 16th as well.
