UNC RB Elijah Green to enter NCAA transfer portal

Junior running back Elijah Green of North Carolina is the third Tar Heels player to join the NCAA portal Monday.

Green and defensive lineman Kedrick Bingley-Jones, who was a Rivals.com four-star prospect in the class of 2020, plan to enter the portal on Dec. 4. UNC junior backup quarterback Jefferson Boaz of Pilot Mountain (N.C.) East Surry High also entered the portal for the Tar Heels.

The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Green will have two years of eligibility remaining after an injury marred 2023. Green emerged as UNC’s top back in 2022 after Caleb Hood got injured. He rushed 131 times for 558 yards and eight touchdowns, and caught 17 receptions for 107 yards and a score a year ago.

Green rushed for over 83 yards in three games in 2022, with 10 carries for 92 yards a two scores as his best game in a 21-17 loss vs. Georgia Tech.

Green was a three-star prospect coming out of Roswell (Ga.) Blessed Trinity in the class of 2020. He was the No. 33 running back in the country by Rivals.com.

Bingley-Jones was ranked No. 98 in the country in the class of 2020 coming out of Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day.
