Utah adds TE Carsen Ryan from UCLA

Shortly after entering the transfer portal from UCLA, sophomore tight end Carsen Ryan announced his commitment to Utah. Ryan played his high school ball in the state of Utah, making this a homecoming for him. He was rated as a 4-star recruit out of high school with a 5.8 Rivals rating, so he was rated pretty high.

In 17 games played over his two seasons at UCLA, Ryan totaled 19 receptions for 287 yards and three touchdowns. This past season was his best season: 12 games, 13 receptions, 205 yards, and three touchdowns for a 15.8 yards per reception average.

Listed at 6’4”, 255 pounds, Ryan has good size for a tight end and has really nice hands. Given that he’s been getting better each season, Utah should expect to have an even better version of him next season, which is exciting. It’ll be fun to see what he does in a Utah uniform and whether or not he takes his game to the next level now that he’s playing in his home state.
