Utah LB Justin Medlock enters the transfer portal

Utah redshirt freshman linebacker Justin Medlock is entering the transfer portal after two seasons with the Utes. Over the course of his time with the Utes, he played in 15 games, recording nine total tackles (five solo) and 1.0 tackles for loss. This past season in 2023, Medlock had seven total tackles (three solo) and the lone tackle for loss of his Utah career.

When he committed to Utah out of Manvel High School in Manvel, Texas, he was a 3-star recruit with a 5.7 Rivals rating in the 2022 class. He initially committed to Miami (FL) before flipping to Utah right before the December signing day in 2021. At the time, flipping him was a big deal for Utah.

While he hasn’t had the kind of production in Utah that he was hoping for, Medlock has a ton of talent and upside. The key thing he needs to do is practice better and be more consistent on that side of things. If he can figure that out, he has a chance to make a real impact on whatever program he ends up at. Miami is obviously one program to keep an eye on here given his prior commitment to them.
