Vanderbilt linebacker Ethan Barr intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he announced Sunday night over social media. The senior will have one more year of eligibility at his new school.

“It’s been an honor and a privilege to play for Vanderbilt University,” Barr said posted on X. “I am grateful for the opportunity I had to represent this school and football program. I want to thank everyone who has helped me up to this point in my life and my career. Thank you to Coach Lea, Coach Lezysnki and the rest of his staff for helping me develop as a player and as a person. I will forever be proud to have been a Commodore! I will be entering my name into the transfer portal as a graduate transfer. I’m excited for what is to come!”

Through 12 games this season, Barr has recorded 55 tackles, including three for a loss with a sack. He also has a quarterback hurry, pass breakup and a forced fumble. Last season, the 6-foot-3, 245-pound linebacker tallied 42 tackles, including two for a loss, over 12 games. His best season came during his sophomore year in 2021 when he piled up 85 tackles to go with three interceptions, four pass breakups and a pair of quarterback hurries.

Barr signed with Vanderbilt as a three-star recruit in 2020. The Flower Mound, Texas native has been a team captain for the Commodores the past two seasons.
