Virginia lands a four-star wing from the transfer portal

Virginia added its second portal commitment Wednesday when St. Thomas guard Andrew Rohde announced he would transfer into the ACC program. Rhode, the Summit League Freshman of the Year and a first-team all-conference selection, has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

A Milwaukee, Wis., native, Rohde, ranked third in the country among all freshmen in points per game and sixth in field goal percentage (.448). He scored 20 or more points 12 times this season, including six of the last seven games of the season.

He averaged 17.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists for St. Thomas (19-14; 9-9), who finished fourth in the Summit League in just their second season in Division I.

A versatile wing, Rohde is excellent in DHO action, makes good reads coming off ball screens and 57.7 percent of his jump shots were of the catch-and-shoot variety.

Rohde joins Merrimack College transfer Jordan Minor in committing to the Cavaliers.
