The secondary just got a lot lighter in Blacksburg as Virginia Tech cornerback Mansoor Delane is set to enter the transfer portal. The 6-foot, 185-pounder will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Delane’s loss is a crucial blow for Hokies’ defensive coordinator Chris Marve’s defensive scheme as Delane accounted for 146 tackles and six interceptions in three seasons. He was an All-ACC honorable mention selection in 2022 and started for the Hokies as a true freshman.
Delane, a former three-star prospect, originally picked the Hokies over Maryland, but his younger brother, Faheem Delane, a four-star safety who is ranked No. 58 overall in the Rivals 100 for 2025, is signed to Ohio State, making the Buckeyes a potential landing spot.
Oregon will also be in the mix for Delane, but he could also opt to declare for the NFL Draft.
