Wake Forest’s offense took another hit Friday with junior wide receiver Jahmal Banks set to transfer.
Banks joins quarterbacks Mitch Griffis and Santino Marucci, running back Justice Ellison and fellow wide receivers Wesley Grimes and Ke’Shawn Williams.
The lanky 6-foot-4, 205-pound Banks led WFU with 59 catches for 653 yards and four touchdowns. He emerged last year with former quarterback Sam Hartman in catching 42 passes for 636 yards and nine scores.
Banks’ best ACC game this season was his last, catching seven passes for 90 yards and a score in the 35-31 loss at Syracuse. He torched Clemson a year ago with six catches for a career-high 141 yards and two score in a 51-45 double overtime loss Sept. 24, 2022. He also had seven catches for 79 yards and two touchdowns in a 43-15 win over Boston College in 2022.
Banks was a Rivals.com three-star prospect coming out of Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances in the class of 2020. He was ranked the No. 34 overall player in Maryland.
