On Saturday, the Oregon Ducks picked up a really nice player in Washington transfer cornerback Jabbar Muhammad. As a junior this past season with the Huskies, Muhammad had 46 tackles (41 solo), 16 pass deflections, three interceptions, two sacks, and one fumble recovery. He played in all 15 games and was a key part of their secondary that helped them reach the national championship game against Michigan.

Muhammad played his first three seasons at Oklahoma State before transferring to Washington for this past season. He’s done a great job of honing his craft and getting better with each passing season. When he committed to Oklahoma State as part of their 2020 class, he was 3-star recruit with a 5.5 Rivals rating. Now, Rivals has him rated as a 4-star transfer with a 5.9 Rivals rating and the 18th best transfer prospect in the nation. That’s quite a jump.

Muhammad is a tremendous ball hawk with good all-around defensive instincts. A high IQ player who is starting to really master the cornerback position. He’s the kind of player that every defense would love to have.

More broadly speaking, the Ducks have done a really good job of improving their secondary via the transfer market. Back in October, they secured a commitment from College of San Mateo transfer cornerback Sione Laulea, who Rivals rated as a 4-star prospect with a 5.9 Rivals rating. Laulea has tremendous physical tools at 6’4”, 185 pounds and has tons of upside.

The Ducks also added 4-star safety Kobe Savage from Kansas State and 4-star cornerback Kameryn Alexander from UTSA. Two other guys who have a chance to make a real impact.

By adding multiple 4-star transfers, the Ducks are putting together a frightening secondary. Big Ten offenses better mind their Ps and Qs when facing these guys next fall.
