Washington State has picked up a couple of nice players via the transfer portal in linebacker Keith Brown and wide receiver Kris Hutson. Both players have two years of eligibility remaining.

Starting with Brown, he played his first two seasons at Oregon before playing last season at Louisville as a junior. During his time with the Cardinals, Brown played in only four games and registering just one total tackle, which was an assist.

However, Brown did show signs of promise out of Lebanon High School in Oregon as a 4-star recruit with a 5.9 Rivals rating as part of the 2021 recruiting class. During his two years with the Ducks, he had 36 total tackles (18 solo) and 1.0 tackles for loss, which was a sack in 19 games played.

As for Hutson, he comes to Washington State after having played the last four seasons at Oregon. He committed to the Ducks as a 4-star recruit with a 5.9 Rivals rating out of St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, CA. He was part of the Ducks’ 2020 recruiting class.

During his four seasons with the Ducks, Hutson had 80 receptions for 936 yards and two touchdowns in 39 games played. The 2021 and 2022 seasons were his most productive seasons by far. That’s where the vast majority of his production occurred. Hutson also did some work in the return game during his time in Oregon. He had 31 kick returns for 658 yards and 10 punt returns for 42 yards. That makes him a pretty versatile guy.

Given the overall talent that both guys had out of high school and also looking at what they have done in college so far, these are two solid additions for Washington State. Both should be able to make an impact on their team next season provided they stay healthy.
