During his two seasons in a Cougars uniform, Ward has played in 25 games, going 643-982 for 6968 yards, 48 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions with a 138.0 passer rating. This past season in 12 games played, Ward went 323-485 for 3736 yards, 25 touchdowns, and seven interceptions with a 145.4 rating.
Ward has had an amazing rise to the top of college football. Originally a basketball recruit, he made the switch to focus on football and hasn’t looked back since. While he had to start at the FCS level, he’s really put the work in and evolved into one of the top quarterback talents in the country.
With Washington State’s future not yet settled due to all the shuffling caused by conference realignment, it’s no surprise he’s looking to go elsewhere. He has a ton of talent and has really blossomed into an elite quarterback. So, he’s going to have a lot of quality programs after him. There’s also the possibility he leaves for the NFL. A lot of different places he could end up.
Personally, I think he would probably benefit from one more season of college football. But, if he gets assured that he’s going to be selected in the first four rounds of the NFL draft, maybe he’ll choose to go pro. I look forward to seeing what he ends up deciding to do and if he does stay in college, which program he ends up helping out.
