T.J. Finley has found a new home. After entering the transfer portal earlier this month, the former Auburn and LSU quarterback committed to Texas State on Friday. Finley is graduating from Auburn this summer and will be eligible to play immediately for his next school. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
Finley transferred to Auburn from LSU in 2021 but lost out to eventual starter Bo Nix. After Nix was injured against Mississippi State, Finley started the Tigers’ final three games, losing all three by a combined 10 points.
Last season, he started Auburn’s first three games before getting injured in the Week 3 loss to Penn State. He finished the year completing 33 of 53 (62.3%) of his passes for 431 yards and a touchdown with four interceptions over four appearances. He also added 33 yards and a score on the ground.
Finley, a Ponchatoula, Louisiana native, was rated as the No. 21 quarterback in the 2020 class.
