Brian Kelly continues to reel in elite talent from the transfer portal, this time landing former Virginia Tech defensive back Mansoor Delane on Monday afternoon. The 6-foot, 185-pound athlete will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Delane was a stud in the secondary in Blacksburg, accounting for 146 tackles, including eight tackles for loss in 33 games over three years.

In that time he also snagged six interceptions and 16 pass breakups.

Delane, who will likely serve as replacement for senior Zy Alexander, will be a welcomed addition to a secondary that ranked dead last in the SEC in interceptions, managing just five this season.

Delane signed with Virginia Tech in 2022 as a three-star prospect in the 2022 class.

The winter college football transfer portal window is scheduled to open on December 9th, 2024 for 20 days. Additionally, players have a 30-day window to transfer when their head coach leaves. There is also a five-day window for players to transfer after their team has finished postseason play. A 10-day transfer window will open on April 16th as well.
