Bill Belichick just got a big jolt to his frontline in Chapel Hill, landing talented Holy Cross offensive lineman Christo Kelly on Monday afternoon. The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder was just finishing up a visit to North Carolina when he made the decision, making him the first transfer portal commitment for the Tar Heels in the Belichick era.
Kelly will have just one year of eligibility remaining.
Kelly is a welcomed addition for the surge Belichick will want upfront to improve an offense that accumulated 2,807 passing yards and 2,247 rushing yards this season. The Tar Heels finished 6-6.
Kelly will bring a wealth of experience as starting center over the past 22 games for Holy Cross. This season he was named First Team All-Patriot League.
He helped anchor a line that paved the way for Crusaders to amass 2,036 rushing yards and 2,447 passing yards this season.
Kelly originally signed with Holy Cross over Colgate, Illinois State, Iowa State and Northern Illinois, among others.
