South Alabama DB Yam Banks Enters Transfer Portal

Yam Banks, a defensive back out of Southern Alabama, officially entered the transfer portal on January 2nd. Banks joined the program in 2020, playing a total of 45 games and starting 38 straight games for the Jaguars.

In 2023, Banks played and started all 13 games for the Jaguars. The six-foot-one, 208 pound defensive back totaled 46 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, a sack, a forced fumble, an interception, and three pass breakups. He was an All-Sun Belt Third Team honoree, while earning Fourth Team honors from Phil Steele and an honorable mention from College Football Network.


In his 2022 campaign, Banks put together a strong season, earning First Team All-SBC honors and an All-American honorable mention (Phil Steele). Through 13 games, the Jaguar garnered 50 tackles, six tackles for loss, a sack, six interceptions, and 17 pass breakups.


Banks, a long-time starter and back-to-back all conference performer, is already gaining a lot of traction in the portal with a visit scheduled with Florida.
