Former Arkansas safety Jalen Catalon is headed back to his home state. The All-SEC performer announced that he will be transferring to play at Texas on Monday.

The move comes less than a month after Catalon revealed his intentions to enter the portal in the middle of December. For Catalon, it is a homecoming after starring at Mansfield Legacy in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex during his high school career.

A four-star prospect that signed with Arkansas, Catalon burst onto the scene early for the Razorbacks. He earned All-SEC honors during his redshirt freshman campaign in Fayetteville after making 99 tackles, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles.

Injuries have plagued the Texas native, however. He injured his shoulder in 2021, playing just six games. Catalon re-injured his shoulder early in the 2022 schedule that forced him to miss all but one game this past season.

Texas is losing valuable experience in the secondary and is banking on Catalon staying healthy in Austin. If that happens, Jalen Catalon has the talent to be a difference-maker for the Longhorns in the Big 12.

Jalen Catalon is ranked as a high three-star in the Rivals Transfer Portal Rankings. He will be a redshirt senior next season.
