Top former Group of Five, FCS players available in the transfer portal

While many players who have entered the transfer portal have found new homes, there are still some talented ones who are available. Below is a list of the top players from Group of Five and FCS programs who are still in search of a new home.

QB DIEGO PAVIA

Pavia has become a highly sought-after prospect since entering the portal. In 2023, the New Mexico State quarterback passed for 2,973 yards, 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Pavia also added 925 yards and seven scores on the ground. The former three-star prospect led the Aggies to a 10-5 record in 2023 and earned Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year Honors.

Since entering the portal, Pavia has garnered notable offers from Nevada, Washington State, Western Kentucky and UTSA.

WR LAJOHNTAY WESTER

Wester was a prolific receiver at Florida Atlantic, with 108 receptions for 1,168 yards and eight scores in 2023, but he really stood out in the return game. He returned 14 punts for 278 yards and a touchdown this season, earning first-team All-American honors as a punt returner along with the American Athletic Conference's Special Teams Player of the Year award.

In his career with the Owls, Wester caught 252 passes for 2,703 yards and 21 touchdowns, including back-to-back 700 yard-plus seasons in 2021 and 2022.

So far, Wester most notably has offers from Auburn, Colorado, Pittsburgh and Arkansas.

DL ANTON JUNCAJ

Juncaj earned first-team FCS All-American honors from multiple outlets after logging 15 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss for Albany in 2023.

He signed with Div. II Southern Connecticut State out of high school but transferred to Nassau C.C. before signing with Albany in the class of 2022. In two seasons with the Great Danes, Juncaj started 22 games and totaled 84 total tackles, 28.5 tackles for loss, 19.5 sacks, five pass breakups and five forced fumbles.

Since entering the portal, the junior has received offers from Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Texas A&M.

QB JORDAN MCCLOUD

McCloud's college career has included stops at South Florida, Arizona and James Madison, and the former three-star prospect has his eyes on adding a fourth program to that list.

McCloud was a key reason the Dukes won 11 games in just their second season on the FBS level. He earned Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year honors after completing 68 percent of his passes for 3,657 yards, 35 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions while adding eight more scores on the ground.

McCloud is likely to garner strong Power Five interest.

RB PENY BOONE

Boone is fresh in the portal but the star Toledo running back will surely have his pick of Power Five options. The former four-star prospect signed with Maryland out of high school but transferred to the Rockets in 2022.

The 6-foot-1, 245-pound back was named MAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2023 after he logged 194 carries for 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also added 15 receptions for 219 yards and a touchdown.

Boone has already released a top three of Florida State, Kentucky and Louisville.

WR GAGE LARVADAIN

In his lone season with Miami (Ohio), Larvadain earned some all-conference recognition after catching 42 passes for 679 yards and six touchdowns. Prior to his time in Oxford, Larvadain had a standout career at FCS Southeastern Louisiana where he earned Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2021.

Since entering the portal, Larvadain has added offers from Miami, Michigan State, Auburn, South Carolina, Tulane and others.

DE CAIDEN WOULLARD

Woullard earned all-conference honors in 2023 after registering 9.5 sacks and 12 tackles for a loss for the Mid-American Conference champions.

A two-star prospect out of high school, Woullard signed with Miami (Ohio) over offers from Ball State, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State and Ohio. He played in 37 games with 26 starts over his three seasons in Oxford, totaling 75 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, five pass deflections and three forced fumbles.

Since entering the portal on Dec. 26, Woullard has received offers from Missouri, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Texas A&M and others.

OL LUKE NEWMAN

With 37-straight starts at Holy Cross under his belt, Newman is a highly decorated and experienced offensive tackle option out of the FCS.

He earned first-team All-American honors in 2023 and was a big reason the Crusaders clinched a share of the conference championship. Newman allowed just one sack in 707 total snaps this season and was one of the highest-graded offensive linemen in the FCS according to Pro Football Focus.

Newman has been a hot commodity in the portal, earning offers from Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Michigan State.

DB KENDRICK SIMPKINS

Simpkins enters the portal after a productive career at Western Kentucky.

This season, in 12 starts, Simpkins totaled 52 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, a pass deflection and four forced fumbles. He earned varying levels of all-conference recognition and led all FBS defensive backs in sacks.

Simpkins has received offers from Florida, Washington State and Baylor.

DB JADEN VOISIN

Voisin entered the transfer portal on Christmas Eve after five years at South Alabama. He played in 42 games with the Jaguars, compiling 157 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions and 18 pass breakups during his career. The Florida native earned all-conference honors in 2023 after totaling 71 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions and seven pass breakups.

The former two-star prospect chose South Alabama out of high school over offers from Appalachian State, Buffalo, Georgia Southern, Troy and FIU.

Voisin is scheduled to officially visit Florida in January.
