Miami’s wide receiving corps is taking a hit if redshirt sophomore Isaiah Horton ends up entering the transfer portal.
Reports from Miami-based Geo Milian have the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Horton intending to enter the portal. Horton emerged this season as a go-to possession receiver with 56 catches for 616 yards and five touchdowns.
Horton caught a season-high eight catches for 108 yards and a touchdown in a 50-15 win at South Florida on Sept. 21. He also had nine catches for 83 yards and a score in the 39-38 comeback win at California on Oct. 5. Those two games were part of a four-game streak where he caught a score.
Miami is already losing ace receiver Xavier Restrepo and Jacolby George to graduation, but return Houston transfer Sam Brown.
Horton was a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and the No. 21 overall player in Tennessee and No. 86 wide receiver nationally in the class of 2022 by Rivals.com. The Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland High product picked Miami over offers from Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Louisville, Mississippi, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.
Horton caught 34 passes for 643 yards and seven touchdowns his senior year.
