Florida’s top pass rusher has entered the portal. Junior edge rusher Princely Unamielen announced his intention to enter the portal Wednesday. He will have one year of eligibility with his next school.
“After a lot of thought, prayers, and conversations, I would like to state that I will be returning to college football, but I will be entering my name in the transfer portal,” Unamielen posted on his Instagram account. “We all must do what is best for us and I think this is what is best for me at the time. Thank you, Gator Nation.”
Umanmielen earned second-team All-SEC honors, recording 11.5 tackles for a loss, 7 sacks and 17 quarterback hurries over 12 games this season. He has 13 sacks, 24.5 tackles for a loss, 27 quarterback hurries and 3 forced fumbles over 44 career appearances with the Gators.
Umanmielen signed with the Gators as the No. 13 strongside defensive end in the 2020 class. The 6-foot-5, 255-pound defender will likely be one of the most hotly pursued pass rushers in the portal.
