Brian Kelly added depth to what’s turning out to be an impressive defensive frontline on Friday, earning a commitment from Texas defensive lineman Sydir Mitchell. The 6-foot-6, 340-pounder will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Mitchell didn’t get a great deal of time to showcase his potential in Austin, managing just seven tackles for the Longhorns, including four solo tackles.
Mitchell reportedly wavered on entering the transfer portal, but ultimately decided it was the best option. It certainly helped to have LSU defensive line coach Bo Davis in Baton Rouge.
Davis helped land Mitchell to Texas before taking the LSU job.
That makes three defensive line commitments for LSU in December after landing rs Jack Pyburn and Jimari Butler.
